Reweave the threads of adversity into a fabric of strength.
This new release from Dr. Roderick Logan provides a thoughtful guide for parents seeking to nurture a close, loving, and flourishing family. The book's ten statements serve as guiding principles that children in their adult years will reflect on and say, "I felt safe and secure, I was encouraged to explore and learn, I was listened to, and my feelings were respected."
I Was Loved directly responds to the question posed to leaders of the ACEs movement: How can we prevent adverse childhood experiences? Furthermore, it gives parents a starting point for raising resilient children into thriving adults. This insightful and heartfelt book is a valuable resource, offering practical advice, practical tips and worksheets, and emotional support to parents striving to create a nurturing environment for their children.
"A must-read for anyone dedicated to raising children who can look back on their childhood with gratitude and joy."
- Dr. Robert Rhoton, Trauma Institute International
I take a salutogenic approach in all of my services. Salutogenesis uses interventions and practices that focus on building and strengthening an individual's competencies and capacities. Evidence supports that keeping an asset focus will be more effective at promoting health than traditional approaches that tend to focus on treating or preventing specific symptoms from reoccurring. This approach has been successfully applied in various settings, including public health, healthcare, education, and social work.
For more than 40 years, I have endeavored to help individuals work through trauma, toxic stress, and histories of adversity. My focus has not just been to reduce suffering and resolve past painful learning. My intent has always been to lead clients to build their readiness to face coming challenges with less impact on their health and wellness.
