When a person leaves a faith community that harmed them, the loss is rarely only theological; it is deeply communal. Their identity, sense of belonging, continuity, and shared language can collapse all at once. Many survivors grieve the loss of established community while also recognizing that returning to those structures would demand a form of self-betrayal. In this complex terrain, connection still holds significant value, but it must be shaped by what the nervous system can tolerate after experiencing spiritual control and religious trauma. For those seeking recovery coaching or religious trauma support, these connections are not ‘less than’ real community. They often represent the only safe and sustainable forms of connection available after enduring spiritual abuse. Pocket Community offers presence without demand, witness without control, and intimacy without capture. The impermanence of these relationships is not a weakness; rather, it serves as part of the necessary protection. It reduces the risk of institutional calcification and honors the truth that Third Space is not merely a waiting room before ‘real life resumes.’ Third Space is legitimate territory of its own, and Pocket Community is shaped specifically for that territory, providing essential spiritual abuse resources and a safe space for healing.

Pocket Community: Third Space Circle is a small, repeatable online support circle for survivors of religious trauma and spiritual abuse, providing essential recovery coaching and valuable religious trauma support.
This circle is designed for individuals who find themselves living between worlds:
Not who you were.
Not yet sure who you are becoming.
Tired of explaining.
Cautious about community for good reasons.
In Finding Everland, I refer to this season as Third Space. Third Space is not a failure; it is a threshold—a genuine terrain.
One of the most urgent needs in Third Space is not answers, but rather safe connection that does not demand performance, certainty, or conformity. This circle exists to provide that safe connection and to be a resource for spiritual abuse, meeting the needs of those who seek healing and community.
This circle is built around a simple promise that I repeat because survivors deserve clarity: Connection without permanence pressure. Presence without demand. Witness without control. Through recovery coaching, we emphasize the importance of creating a safe space, and for those seeking religious trauma support, we ensure there are spiritual abuse resources available to guide the journey toward healing.
After experiencing spiritual abuse, many have come to realize that a sense of "community" can sometimes turn into a trap. This circle is specifically designed to offer connection without capture, serving as a vital resource for those seeking recovery coaching and religious trauma support.
Pocket Community: Third Space Circle is not:
- Group therapy
- Pastoral counseling
- A Bible study
- A new church or the foundation for one
- A space where you must agree, perform, or conform
It is:
- A facilitated, trauma-informed circle providing spiritual abuse resources
- Story-sharing that honors your pace
- Reflection without pressure toward premature resolution
- Support without ideological demand
- A steady rhythm with clear boundaries
Healthy connections, essential for recovery coaching, are not built by intensity. Instead, they are formed through predictability, consent, and clarity, especially important when navigating issues such as religious trauma support or spiritual abuse resources.
In Third Space, I emphasize a simple triad:
Safety: A felt sense that you can be yourself without threat.
Trust: Confidence in key relationships, free from fears of harm, rejection, judgment, or shame.
Transparency: Mutual vulnerability with no hidden agendas.
You do not need to force openness; what you need is a space that respects pacing.
This circle is offered as an 8-session monthly pilot for those seeking recovery coaching and support for religious trauma.
Begins: March 15, 2026
Cadence: Third Sunday of each month
Pilot duration: 8 months
Capacity: Limited to 10 participants
Cost: Free
You are not obligated to attend all eight sessions. You can participate as often as you desire. Because seating is limited, booking ahead for the sessions you want to attend is advisable. This pilot also provides valuable spiritual abuse resources to participants.
This circle may be for you if:
You left a faith community and lost more than just beliefs. You lost people, practices, language, and a sense of identity.
You feel disoriented, guarded, or simply tired of explaining your journey.
You want connection but cannot tolerate pressure, certainty, or hierarchy right now.
You seek a small circle with clear boundaries, rather than a large group with unclear expectations.
It may not be for you if:
You are looking for debate, persuasion, or apologetics.
You want someone to dictate what to believe.
You are seeking evangelistic opportunities.
You prefer a community that requires high commitment and high visibility.
Third Space requires honesty about capacity. Pocket Community honors limits without shaming them. If you are in need of recovery coaching or resources related to religious trauma support and spiritual abuse, this could be a fitting place for you.
